Shine Pedalers Metric on Saturday, July 27, 7:30 AM

Dawsonville, GeorgiaWeather permitting, we will have a group ride led by Harold Franco for this upcoming event for the metric century.  Here are the details: 

Description: ‘Shine Pedalers will start and finish at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville, Georgia.  ‘Shine Pedalers Ride offers two rolling routes through the beautiful hills Dawson County. Metric Century – 68.1 mi +5727 ft/-5715ft

Half Metric – 31.6 miles, 2159′/-2143ft

The Ride:

  • Metric riders will climb Burnt Mountain (experienced riders only)
  • Half Metric is for all experience levels
  • Plenty of rolling hills and beautiful scenery to keep riders interested
  • Complimentary continental breakfast, coffee and snacks
  • Well placed SAG stops with snacks, drinks and support
  • Complimentary lunch at the GRHOF (indoors)
  • Complimentary cooling towels at end of ride
  • Friendly and helpful SAG support

6:30 am to 7:15 am—Registration, breakfast and packet pick-up
7:30 am— Metric starts (62 miles 5261’ of elevation gain)
7:45 am— Half-Metric starts (31 miles 2076’ elevation gain)

All For One Century Support

The century ride in support of the Van Purser Foundation is on again for this year and scheduled for Oct 5.  NGCA will be supporting this ride in multiple ways, volunteering, riding and generally helping out in any way we can.   And we need your involvement.  Right now, Nello is looking for volunteers to be part of the team.  Please see his note below and respond to Nello if you can help. 

From Nello:Van’s inspiration has been hard at work at the Van Purser Foundation in planning our signature event the “ALL FOR ONE 100” century ride.  In an effort to make this event one we can all take part in and benefit from we’d like to form volunteer teams.   With Van’s help we have come up with the “dream volunteer team”.  We need team members and team leaders of all skill types.  So as to not start any public fights over positions let’s just respond to me privately at   We will need the following teams: route safety, registration, sag stops, merchandising, swag/like kind endorsements, finish food/bev, marketing/sponsorships,  and packet pickup.  Please join us by choosing a position now.  The Van Purser Foundation is: “Pulling Together To Assist Cyclists In Times Of Need”.  For more information on the foundation go to:

Beautiful Backroads Century on Saturday, Sep 21, 8:00 AM 

The next NGCA club paid century will be The Beautiful Backroads Century.  Sign-up is now open. 

When registering, you will enter the code on the first screen…look for the link to “Enter Promotion Code”.  If you get to a payment page, you missed it.  The code expires Aug 31st, so please register before then.
